James Wells, Ph.D.
James Wells co-founded Granville Life Sciences to help bridge the gap between scientific innovation and strategic execution across the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. In his role as a Translational Science Manager, James leads engagements focused on market and opportunity assessment, data integration, and commercial strategy for clients ranging from early-stage biotechs to global life science organizations.
Prior to founding Granville, James served as a Senior Life Sciences Specialist with L.E.K. Consulting, where he advised leading biopharma, diagnostics, and healthcare technology companies on growth strategy, market entry, portfolio optimization, and commercial diligence. His project experience spans oncology, neuroscience, rare disease, and precision medicine, as well as regulatory and clinical strategy for emerging modalities. Earlier in his career, James contributed to venture development and translational research initiatives at the University of British Columbia and Creative Destruction Lab, supporting startups in RNA therapeutics, diagnostics, and digital health.
James is known for his analytical rigor, cross-disciplinary insight, and ability to translate complex scientific data into actionable strategy. He has deep experience working at the intersection of R&D, business development, and data-driven process design, with a particular focus on enabling biotech teams to scale efficiently through commercial strategy and partnerships.
James earned his PhD in Interdisciplinary Oncology from the University of British Columbia and his B.Sc. (Honours) in Biochemistry from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
